"I wanted to be a dinosaur when I grew up until I discovered acting. After my first role in Kindergarten as The Biggest Billy Goat in The Three Billygoats Gruff, I was hooked for life."

ABOUT CHRISTOPHER

I was born the luckiest kid in the world. I had the most amazing parents ever and I got to grow up in an idyllic rural area in the Midwest. My folks worked hard and they instilled a stolid work ethic and a belief that with hard work and persistence, you can achieve anything. The small town culture was warm and endearing, but the tight knit social structure made you accountable for everything you did. Back then, being honest wasn’t so much an altruistic virtue as it was a necessity for keeping your story straight every time you told it!

Christopher Showerman Family Photo | Christophershowerman.comI was 5 when I was in my first play as the biggest Billy goat in “The Three Billy Goats Gruff”. Until that time, I wanted to grow up to be a dinosaur, but once I was bit by the performance bug, my dino-dreams became ancient history. Throughout my grade school years, I studied and performed in all forms of entertainment. I took lessons on piano, guitar, bassoon, bass, singing, gymnastics, and even dance. As a freshman in high school I joined a rock band as the keyboardist and played live music with various groups in various positions for the next decade.

I started working out as early as seven years old but never participated in organized sports – opting for paying jobs (as many as 7 at a time!) to earn enough to provide for all the trappings of a young performer. I spent any leftover cash on gym memberships and supplements so I could someday ripple with muscles like the bodybuilders I grew up admiring.

After earning a music composition degree from Michigan State, I taught music locally for a while as I honed my performance chops. Finally I moved to Los Angeles to dive into the deep end of the talent pool. Once in California, I took any and every job to pay the rent, including working at the world famous Gold’s Gym in Venice and parading as a giant pink ball for a supermarket that delivers. I continued to take acting classes and occasionally book small roles in small movies or local plays.

After many years in Los Angeles, I heard they were making a sequel to the popular Brendan Frasier movie “George Of The Jungle”. My agent at the time couldn’t get me into the audition, so I rallied my pals to help me tape my own jungle audition to submit to casting. Following a series of miraculous flukes, I ended up in front of producers Jordan Kerner and Gregg Hoffman, and as they say, the rest is history.

Yes, I’m the luckiest kid in the world, but not because of my career or the money I have made and lost. My fulfillment comes from loving what I get to do and loving those that support me in doing what I love. So to my family, friends, and fans, this site is dedicated to you.
